Mr. Jose G. Acosta

Jose G. Acosta of Houston, Texas passed away on September 6, 2022 following a courageous 4.5 year battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer that spread to the central nervous system. Jose was born October 28, 1956 in Mexico. Jose is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Rowley Acosta and sons Marcus Owen and Mason Emilio. Son Edgar Acosta and wife Jinny, granddaughters Chloe and Allison Acosta. Mother Maria de Jesus Herrera, brother Arturo Marin, nephew Humberto and niece Rebecca Marin and sister Maria Teresa Marin, nieces Andrea and Ximena. Father-in-law Bruce Rowley, Mother-in-law Dedra Rowley. Sister-in-law Larisa Rowley Igo, brother-in-law Shaun Igo, nephews Caden, Levi, and Zane Igo. Brother-in-law Samuel Rowley and wife Lauren, niece Madison and nephew Grayson, sister-in-law Ebby Rowley, brother-in-law Derrick Rowley, and brother-in-law Bryce Rowley. Jose is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jose is preceeded in death by his father. Jose dearly loved his family and was so proud of his three sons. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling to Mexico to visit family and spend time at the beach. He loved soccer, both watching and coaching for FFPS. He was extremely passionate about music and always expressed himself and influenced others through discovery of numerous genres and artists. He played music in the house, garage, working in his office and even carried a speaker to the hospital to listen to music while undergoing treatments. He spent the last 28+ years working for HCAD where he made many friends. He valued the friendships he built going to the gym. Jose was always very polite and made friends wherever he went. Over the course of 4.5 years he made many friends at MDAnderson. No matter how poorly he felt, he never failed to thank those who cared for him. Walking from appointment to appointment at MDAnderson, you would often hear people call him by name because he was always very kind and people remembered him. Jose was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, cousin, father, grandfather and husband. He had a servant’s heart and was always willing to lend a hand and never wanted to be a burden. It is an honor to know Jose and have the opportunity to have him in one’s life. He is truly an inspiration and testimony to the goodness of God. It is only God that gave him the strength to endure the challenges of battling Multiple Myeloma. The family is so grateful to know that he is now completely free of pain, completely healed and spending eternity with Jesus! We are going to miss him greatly, but know that when we see a cardinal to think of him and the incredibly strong man that he was and how much he loved each of us.
