Mr. Kevin Wayne Adams Sr.

Life Reflections Kevin, born to Garland and Marie in Houston, Texas, at Riverside on August 8, passed away surrounded by loved ones. As the youngest of ten siblings, Kevin's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a touch of mischief. His journey began in Clinton Park, where his early years were spent in the nurturing environments of Clinton Park Elementary School, Furr Junior High School, and Furr Senior High School. Growing up in a large family, Kevin embraced his role as the youngest, often reminding his siblings with a twinkle in his eye that he was the "baby" of the family. He proudly wore the self-proclaimed title of his grandmother's favorite child, a testament to the special bond they shared. His grandfather fondly remembered him as the little sandy-haired, precocious child. Kevin's penchant for pranks and his innate comedic talent brought endless joy and laughter to those around him. Kevin's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, a decision that would guide him throughout his life. Professionally, Kevin dedicated himself to serving his community. His career as a correctional officer at TDCJ spanned 11 years (1987-1998), followed by his service at the Houston Police Department as a Jailer (2013-2018), and finally, at the Harris County Sheriff's Department as a Detention Officer (2018-2020). His commitment to law enforcement was evident in his graduation from the Academy in December 2013 and again in December 2018. On August 14, 1983, Kevin embarked on a beautiful journey of love and companionship when he married his beloved wife, Traci Adams. Their union, spanning 39 years, was a testament to their unwavering love and mutual respect. Kevin was not only an amazing husband but also a father to four boys left to cherish his sweet memories including his name sake, Kevin Wayne Adams Jr. married to Latoya Adams, sharing 2 children, Kevin Adams the third and Aaliyah Adams. His second son, Keith Lawrence Adams and his better half, Stacey Homister, the parents of Kaidyn Dior Washington. His third son, Jeremi Kielle Adams, the proud father of Marley Raine Adams and his twin brother, the baby, Joshua Kierre Adams and his better half, Tykierra Latham and their four children, twins Kylie Adams and Katie Adams, Addilyn Adams and son Maison Latham. He was a best friend, confidant, and source of strength for his family. His family attributes their strength and joy to the role he played in their life, cherishing every moment spent in his loving presence. Kevin's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid fisherman and crabber, finding peace and solace in the serenity of nature. A lover of classic television, his favorite shows included "Perry Mason," "Matlock," and "In the Heat of The Night." But it was his role as the family comedian that truly defined him. Kevin had a unique gift for storytelling and humor, always ready with a joke or a witty nickname to bring smiles to those around him. His favorite saying, "Sit Down Somewhere," will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Kevin is survived by his sisters Othelia Brownlow, Willietta Harris, Joycelyn Austin, and Brenda Adams. He is also survived by his brothers Benny Roy Adams, and Robert Earl Adams, and cousin Paula Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents Garland and Marie Adams; grandparents, Earnest and Willie Mae Thomas; brothers Billy Ray Adams, and Kenneth Paul Adams; sister Carla Gail Adams; cousin Joseph Charles Robinson Jr.; and nephew Mychal Dwayne Brownlow.Kevin is also survived by his mother in law, Linda Chambers and her mom, Bernice Chambers.He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family, and friends.
