Mrs. LaShell Bryant

Obituary Lashell Lorraine Bryant, of Cedar Hill TX, passed away in the early hours of August 3rd, 2022 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 68 years old. Lashell was the adoring mother to Lorraine Cole and son in law GeJuan Cole, as well as the loving grandmother to Kalyn Cole, Alexandria Cole, and Gabriel Cole. Lashell, or Mum Mum, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, was born on October 28th, 1953 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City to James Thompson and the late Lorrayne James Thompson. She graduated from Wissahickon High School in 1971, then went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from Spelman College in 1975. Lashell spent most of her career working with children. Her titles included social worker for Visiting Nurses and Child Care Dallas, Director for The Child Care Group and Childtime Learning Center, and site coordinator for Communities in School. Lashell had a well known love for going on cruises and riding the Amtrak Train. You would often find her attending her grandchildren’s sporting events or watching NFL football and cheering for (and many times crying over) the Dallas Cowboys. She was a dedicated member of The Potter’s House for 25 years and joined the mass choir in 1996. Lashell’s fellow choir members were like a second family to her and bought an endless amount of joy to her life. The many friends and family members who mourn the passing of Lashell are a testament to the impact that she had on everyone that she came into contact with. She was known for her generous spirit, sense of humor, and her ability to talk to any and everyone. From Penllyn PA to Houston, TX, there are many fond memories of Lashell and the joy that she brought to this world. Her kindness and love will be missed. Lashell is preceded in death by her brother, James “Choochie” Thompson, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her father, daughter, son-in law, and grandchildren along with her former husband Ell Bryant (Tameka Rhodes, Karen Miller, Latrice King, Demetria Roman), niece Alicia Thompson, nephews Anthony Thompson and Andre Thompson, cousin/lifelong friend Lauren Ellison, sister in love Gerolyn Cole, sisters Kristin Dorman, LaNeika Thompson Harris, and Tai Marie, brother Lawrence Smith, and a host of other friends and family members.
