Mrs. Mary Alice Gaillard-Johnson

Obituary Mary Alice Gaillard-Johnson born April 15, 1968, in Austin, Texas, to Willie James Brewer and Genoveva Flores, went home to be with her Lord on December 20, 2025, in Houston. A woman of extraordinary grace and unshakeable faith, Mary, who was affectionally called Alicia by her closest friends, was beautiful inside and out, exemplifying Proverbs 31 throughout her life. Her strong belief in God never wavered. Mary joyfully shared Jesus with others—in person, by phone, text, and online—through gospel music, Scripture, and prayer. But Mary also loved to party, dance, and have a good time listening to R & B and jazz music in the company of her family and friends. Mary’s daughters, Erin and Ashley, and their children, who affectionately called her Nana, were her pride and joy. All who knew Mary knew what an amazing mother and grandmother she was. She married Rickey Wayne Johnson on December 5, 2015, in Austin. Mary was a devoted homemaker and excellent cook with exquisite taste, a true foodie unafraid to share culinary insights. Though frugal, she valued quality and surrounded her family with beautiful things and fine food. Her state government administration career reflected her sharp competence. Before ride-sharing services existed, she demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit through Erin and Ashley's Charter Service, driving school buses and her own van while always providing customers with water, snacks, and genuine hospitality. Mary started her first business, Erin and Ashley’s Janitorial, years before in California, where she grew up. While living in Long Beach, she ran track and graduated from Poly Tech High School. She graduated from Huston-Tillotson University with a degree in Business Administration. Yet her greatest education came through faith. She accepted Jesus Christ at a young age. A devoted member of Church of the Living Water in Round Rock and later Abundant LIFE Church in Pflugerville, her personal library overflowed with dozens of religious books and Bibles. She often attended gospel concerts, Christian women conferences, and weekly worship with her friends. Beyond her immediate family, Mary was a loving auntie, sister, godmother, and grandmother to her family of choice. Mary loved to help others, often going out of her way to check on an elderly person or friend, and she poured out blessings generously often. Mary was predeceased by her parents; siblings Mary Jean Brewer and Cynthia Jean Brewer-Garland; and grandson, Aiden J. Carroll. She is survived by her devoted husband; daughters, Erin (Jacobi) Carroll and Ashley Jeanell (Vondral “Trae”) Wright; grandchildren, Aleiah, Dillan, Fancii, Roderick, Style, Terrance, Vondral Jr., and Zalajhia, bonus daughters, Feliciti, Jaime, and Pamela “Pammy”, siblings, Chantell, Darrell, Willie James (Junior), and Jamie; great-grandchildren, extended family, and beloved friends.
